I didn't really know my daddy but I hear he's awesome.I'm now 11 and I'm starting to forget those fun times and I long for my Dad but I still have pics and vids. One thing I remember is that my dad came back from heaven and spent the whole day with us but then he was gone. Thank you for all your kind sayings and kind things about my dad. Thank you.

Shayna, I barely knew Lonnie ...but I know a happy and dedicated wife when I see one, and I know it takes a certain kind of man to support his wife during a difficult pregnancy, and I know the look on the faces of little girls when they're with a beloved father.  I am so very sorry for your family's loss.

We first met Lonnie when our girls were all involved with Soccer Tots. I still remember how adorable the twins were and wondered where they got their beautiful blonde hair and blue eyes, and then walked in Lonnie and I realized right then and there who had the dominant genes in the family!  They were the spitting image of their Dad!

I'll never forget the first time Zachary brought me to his dad's house. Lonnie was all smiles, and made sure I felt welcome. There was a moment when everyone left the room and it was just him and I. He looked at me and said,"you're not going to break his heart...are you?" The look on his face was very serious, far from the famous smile he was wearing moments ago. He sat there, and waited patiently for my answer. I said,"Mr. Schumacher, sir, I would never ever hurt Zachary. I love him more than anything in this world!" His brilliant smile came back, and he handed me a beer. He said,"I knew that the second you guys got here, the way you look at eachother, it's there." I just had to say that to you...Zachary means a lot to me, and i can tell you're a good girl." He told me not to call him "sir" anymore and patted me on the back and walked away...laughing. He was probably laughing because I was so nervous. That laugh of his was something else...I'll never forget it. He was the best of men, and he touched so many lives. It was a privelege to have known him. :)

My fondest memories of Lonnie are the ones I have of him with the girls.  Like on their fourth birthday they had a balloon man their making different things for the kids.  He made Lonnie a pirate hat balloon complete with an eye patch,and Lonnie wore it for hours because the kids thought it was cool. He never lost patience with the girls no matter what they did.  I remember Grace having coffee with him, and Addison swimming in the pool with him. I have many happy memories of Lonnie. He will be missed a lot.

The first time I met Lonnie was at the twins birthday party.  I will always remember what a nice man he was to be around.

I had the honor and privilege of working with Lonnie in Memphis and calling him a friend. One of the best people I have ever worked with and learned from.  He was always in a great mood and patient when passing on his vast knowledge of the scale industry.  I talked with Lonnie from time to time over the phone as I have moved around with Fairbanks and one thing I definitely remember  how proud Lonnie was of his family and his wife Shayna and especially the  children, you could tell in his voice; he would just perk up, from seeing his two oldest become adults to his precious twins.  It's extremely sad when the great ones get taken away early and Lonnie was a truly Great One.  You will be missed and always remembered.

I met your husband once as my neighbor asked him to build some ramps so I could get my husband out with a wheelchair.  However, I lost my husband due to brain cancer.  My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.  Always believe he is alright now and is watching over you from above.  Mary DeHaan

I was blessed to have met Lonnie and Shauna while taking care of her and trying to keep those two precious girls from delivering early. Every night Lonnie would be in his baseball hat watching television or on the phone, but his world stopped to listen to their heartbeats. The true love he showed to shayna was not only with spoken words, but of actions. After he was chased off hospital property for grilling steaks for their dinner, he went across the street, fired up the hibache and cooked for her. He would come back, baseball cap on, steaks in one hand and a beer in the other, with potatoes cooking in the microwave, just laughing how he made the hospital security guards run. To this day we tell our future dads his inventive ways to make the hospital a home. I am so blessed to have witnessed his love for his family.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all, I remember the last time I saw Lonnie was in the hospital while Shayna was on complete bedrest with the twins, His smile could light up a room and his eyes looked like the sky.May God be with Shayna and the rest of the family in the days ahead..

Dear uncle Lonnie,
I will never for get all the great memories i had. I enjoyed seeing u and the family any time I could. I think the one time I will never for get was up at uncle johns house on the 4 th and Rose and I tryed our hand at water skiing. U made us keep trying till we both gave up but then we both sat on ether side of u and just went for a ride. You will always be close to my haret and I will miss u will always have a special place in my life. Love u always

Lonnie and Shayna came to stay with us back in the Fall of 2004 for a weekend -- it was such a treat for us cause living so far from family (here in NJ) we don't get many family visits from folks back in the South ! It was a very enjoyable visit -tho wished it could have been longer --- I remember I baked a honey ham and made fresh Silver Queen cream style corn -he had never had any and thought it was so good (and it is if you have never tasted it-it grows really well here in New Jersey"the Garden State") and he and Shayna were so kind to me when my Mom died back in June 2004 ! They invited me up for a  holiday and yes, Lonnie & Cecil were in the carport barbecueing - I really apreciated being with family that day -it was Labor Day, 2004 !

When I first met Shayna and Lonnie I could see from the very start that he was a dedicated family Man.. Striving to get the best home for Shayna and the girls.. And we did look at a lot before he found the perfect home. But it was not the house that made it a home. It was the people in it. So glad to have that adventure with Shayna and Lonnie.

Lonnie was the best big brother any little sister could ask for. He loved to tease and jump out and surprise me--he would laugh, I would cry, but we would turn right around and do it again. Whether is was sledding in the winter, catching snakes in the pond in the summer, or playing "Ghost, Ghost come out tonight" in the fall, he always let me be there--right next to him. He taught me how to play ball, army, and drive--but most of all, he taught me how to laugh and love life. He is in my heart forever and will be forever missed by this little sister.

I loved him from the second he was born and Dr. Crippen announced that I had myself another boy, he said, "he isn't very pretty--he looks just like Al!" The love between a mother and her child is like no other love on this earth. The joy of my life has been watching my children become parents and grow their own family. This all becomes a part of me too. May God continue to watch over all of my family and now hold in his own loving arms my son Lonnie.

Shayna-we remember when you met Lonnie-we all saw the spark from the beginning-you two truly had something very special; and we have so many "baseball" memories of Lonnie.  You and the girls cross my mind many times a day, and I pray for you several times a day.  There are no words big or strong enough to express how very sorry we are.

One of the best scale men and BBQ masters I have ever had the pleasure of working and cooking with. I have missed him greatly in the past months. It seems like yesterday we first met some 23 years ago.

My favorite memory is 37 years old. Bonnie,Lonnie,and Connie (and of Course Mother and Dad)during Spring Break at Disney World. We had the best time and I can't wait to give those same wonderful memories to Shayna and his chidren. He will be there with us in spirit, smiling. He did indeed have a great smile. If I listed all my favorite memories of my brother they would have to hire a publishing company to print it so I will share one of my fondest with you all.  The Dear season that Tom Ron Lonnie and I spent in an 18 foot travel trailer at camp was filled with laughter, stories, and love for each other.  Imagine the four of us crowded in that small trailer eating and drinking with several sudden gas releases topped off with an accidental firearm discharge just outside the door that hit the tounge of the trailer just a foot from the propane tank. Ah what fun we had when we were together.  Love you brother.

I met Lonnie in the mid 70's playing softball against him.We became friends then and have stayed that way since. It seems crazy but sofrtball was the glue that kept us together all these years.Lonnie also built the deck in my backyard about 10 years ago.I wish there was something I could say to ease Shayna's pain but there isn't. I believe in celebrating the life Lonnie led and knowing that Shayna and his children were the greatest thing that ever happened to him. I will cherish the moments. Also his wedding to Shayna was one of the best I ever attended.

So sorry we can not be with everyone in person.  We love you all.  John and Kay.
