Marilyn Elizabeth (Pachini) Potter, 77, of Bartlett, died on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at Saint Francis Hospital - Bartlett with family by her side. She was born on May 22, 1945, in Scranton, Pennsylvania to Julius and Glendora Pachini. Marilyn received a bachelor's degree in education from Eastern Kentucky University and utilized that degree in a teaching career spanning over four decades. She taught six years at Terry Town Academy in Louisiana and eventually retired after 28 years with Memphis Shelby County Schools. She also taught school overseas while with her husband on assignments in the U.S. Navy. She had a love for education and children.
Marilyn was married for 52 years to her husband, Michael William Potter, who passed away on June 3, 2021. They lived a full and beautiful life together and raised two daughters while posted in Naval assignments in Louisiana, Tennessee, Iceland, Spain, and Cuba. Their home was filled with memorabilia of their life together.
Marilyn enjoyed planting flowers in her garden, arts and crafts, and playing Bunko with friends. Family was always first in her life and she was a beloved grandma and great-grandmother, adoringly called "G2" by her nine great grandchildren. She extended her love and wisdom to many young people over her lifetime, including her students and friends of her daughters and grandchildren. There are many who will tell you she was like a second mom to them and those in that circle received love, no nonsense lectures, and enjoyed the quick sarcastic wit that only she could dispense while still leaving you with a smile. She will forever be remembered by the multitudes of lives she touched.
Marilyn is survived by her daughters - Dianna King and Shannon Potter; grandchildren - Joseph Potter, Mikkilla Johnson, Kendrick Robertson, Dustyn Robertson, Kaitlyn Eldridge and Elizabeth Massey; great-grandchildren - Brennan, Rylan, Gabriel, Neveah, Jordan, Orlando, Addison, Sparkle, and Prince; sister - Diane Miller, brother - Bobby Pachini, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband - Michael Potter, and her brother - Ronnie Pachini.
