Scott was born in Memphis, Tennessee on April 27, 1987, and died on March 15, 2022.
Scott graduated from Germantown High School and the University of Tennessee Knoxville with a degree in Logistics, remaining a loyal and enthusiastic alumnus for the Vols. Scott took great pride and pleasure from his career as an IT Analyst at International Paper, often volunteering his time and talents to others. When receiving multiple recognitions at work, including the 2021 IT University Volunteer of the Year, Scott downplayed his achievements, saying when you do something for the greater good, don’t boast. Always share your knowledge freely.
Scott thrived on technology both at work and at home, and through continuous self-learning grew into a subject matter expert in many tech areas. He loved video gaming and, for some serious fun, generously provided server hosting for various data projects for the University of California Berkeley, including participation in SETI (Search for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence).
A lifelong animal lover, Scott was devoted guardian to his two cats, Chappy and Digsby. Scott equally loved travel, a family tradition started at an early age that continued throughout his life – with Europe a favorite destination. For quieter relaxation, Scott enjoyed the driving range, shooting range, and long country drives on his special route toward Herb Parsons Lake.
Scott was brilliant, funny, and generous, and always on a quest for more knowledge spanning a wide range of topics. He touched many lives and will be deeply missed.
Scott leaves his parents, Tom and Martha Drannon, brother Andrew, and dear friend Michelle, along with an uncle, aunts, cousins, and his many cherished friends from school. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Al and Rosa Bettis and his paternal grandparents Cleve and Lucille Drannon.
A memorial service to honor Scott’s life will be held at Memphis Funeral Home on Poplar Avenue on March 29 at 3:00 P.M. with visitation from 1:00-3:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Memphis Humane Society or the ASPCA.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.MemphisFuneralPoplar.com for the Drannon family.
