

Peggy Wyatt Joyner MEMPHIS, TN 100, of Memphis, TN went to be with the Lord on December 3, 2015. Born January 25, 1915 in Memphis, TN, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 78 years, James Othel Joyner, her sister Fleda Foster, her grandson James Wyatt Joyner, Jr., and her
parents Grace Truman Allen and W.H. Reese. She leaves behind three sons and daughters-inlaw, James Wyatt Joyner (Gail), Jerry Wayne Joyner (Harolyn),
and Phillip Martin Joyner (Ina Sue). Six grandchildren, Steve Joyner (Suzi), Rob Joyner (Sherrie), Paula Joyner, Jerry Joyner Jr. (Julia), David Joyner (Estelle), and Phillip Joyner Jr (Crystal). Three step-grandchildren, Stephanie Barbour (Bill), Glenn Stephenson (Tammy), and Suzanne Williams (Steven). Sixteen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and two nephews J.G. Jacques and James Thomas Byers. She retired from the Baptist Sunday School Board after 15 years and was a member of First Baptist Church, Memphis for over 75 years. She served her church faithfully, devoting 37 years to teaching
Children’s Sunday School along with many years of teaching a twice weekly ceramic class. She was a Cub Scout Leader and was active in her kids Parent Teacher Associations serving as President and other officer positions. Soon after World War II, while still raising her three sons, to help a friend in need she spent 8 months caring for newborn twins in her home. She was an avid reader and enjoyed using her computer for genealogy research and keeping up with her family on Facebook. In her later years, she and her husband “Pop” enjoyed living at the Germantown Plantation Senior Living Community where she
loved tending to her flowers (especially her Christmas Cactus), visiting with her many friends, and participating in the various group activities. The family would like to thank the staff at Baptist Reynolds Hospice House for their loving care and support for her and her family. Visitation will begin at 9 am Saturday, December 5th Services will follow at 10 am at Memphis Funeral Home with a private family burial at Northridge Woodhaven Cemetery in Millington, TN.
