Our precious mother, Penny Ellen LaRue Vazeii, passed away peacefully at the age of 66 on October 23rd, 2024. She loved her family more than anything and will forever live on in the memories of those she left behind: Michael Vazeii (son, age 48), Layla Allison (daughter, age 44), Sammy Allison (son-in-law, age 49), Davin Allison (grandson, age 16), Dawson Allison (grandson, age 13), Justin Vazeii (son, age 36), Paige Vazeii (daughter-in-law, age 36), and Violet Vazeii (granddaughter, age 6).
Mom was born on June 1st, 1958 in Martinsburg, WV. She attended Martinsburg High School and went on to work in Restaurant Management and Gaming for over 40 years until she retired. Although she physically left West Virginia as a teenager, her heart always remained there. She loved making frequent trips to visit and longed for the day she would be back “home”. Mom was always a genuine, kind, and caring person to everyone she met, and those qualities really came through as an incredible Mother to her kids and Namaw to her grandkids. She will be loved and missed dearly by all that knew her.
Besides her immediate family, Mom is survived by sisters Robin Sanborn, Teri Alexander (Joey), Lori Frazier (Kurt), Chrissy Ross, and Niki Cupp (Dennis), a brother, Jason Edwards (Carol), a Goddaughter, Danielle Sanborn, and several aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. A “Celebration of Life” service will be held at Family Funeral Care in Memphis, TN on Monday, October 28th from 6 to 7 p.m. with family and friends gathering at 5:30pm, before her ashes are returned to West Virginia to be scattered in the mountains she called home. To honor Mom, we’re asking that donations be made to Memphis Animal Services or any local animal rescue or shelter.
