He is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Nelda Butler; wife, Carolyn Butler; brother, Larry Butler; and son, Robbie Mitchell.
He is survived by his son, Douglas Butler (Shellie); daughter, Lisa Wilkerson (Carl); son Greg Mitchell (Amanda); brother Keith (Brenda); 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
He served four years in the Navy and was honorably discharged in 1968. He was an avid fan of Bluegrass, both as a musician and listener.
He also enjoyed hunting, fishing. He recalled his favorite family memory was getting married to his wife, Carolyn. He attended Trinity Baptist Church for many years.
A visitation will be held on February 18, 2026, at 1:00 at Family Funeral Care, located at 4925 Summer Ave, Memphis, Tennessee. The funeral service will follow at the same location at 2:00pm.
