With great sadness, we announce that Raymond McCoy, 58, a longtime Memphis resident, passed away on Easter Sunday. He was a man of deep love and quiet faith that sustained him throughout his life. Born in Memphis as the oldest of four sons to Raymond and Norma Jean McCoy, Raymond spent most of his life in the city he loved. He was a devoted brother, uncle, and friend who loved fiercely and remembered everyone who showed him kindness. Raymond had a lifelong passion for baseball — from managing the Kingsbury Falcons to cheering for his beloved Chicago Cubs. A man of quiet faith, Raymond taught Sunday School, attended every service he could, and faithfully ran a Bible correspondence course for prisoners for many years.
If Raymond knew you, he loved you — deeply and forever.
He is survived by his brothers Jim and Steven McCoy, extended family including nephews Connor, Owen, Joseph, and David (his beloved “Knot heads”), and many friends who were like family.
Funeral arrangements are as follows: Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 13, 2026, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Family Funeral Care 4925 Summer Avenue Memphis, TN 38122 (901) 761-8000. A graveside service will follow in Leachville, Arkansas.
