Richard Reynolds Satterlee

RICHARD REYNOLDS SATTERLEE, 77 of Collierville, TN passed away on Friday September 6th, 2013 at Germantown Methodist Hospital. He was born on March 15, 1936 in Troy, NY to the late William and Mildred Satterlee. A graduate of Troy High School and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a BS in mechanical engineering & a Masters Degree in industrial engineering. Mr. Satterlee began his career as a Systems engineer for IBM Corp. then became Director of data processing for the Syracuse, NY Central School District followed by Director of Computer Systems for Penn Traffic Corp also in Syracuse, NY. He then moved the family to Memphis, TN in 1988 to accept a position as Director of Computer Systems with Schering Plough to run their Maybelline division. He finished his career as a consultant with International Paper. During retirement he enjoyed working in the hardware dept. at The Home Depot in Collierville where he built many friendships & did what he did best which was listening & helping people. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed a lifetime of hunting, fishing & snowmobiling in the Ohmer Mtn. Hunting Club in the Adirondacks along with hunting in the Catskill Mtns. around Jefferson, NY. In his younger days, he was an all-city athlete in football, basketball & baseball & went on to play baseball for 4 yrs at RPI. His father William played for the Boston Red Sox in the 1920’s. He was a devoted & faithful husband, loving father & brother as well as a reliable and dear friend to all. He is survived by his wife Ruthann of 48 years, three sons Shawn Satterlee (wife Karen), Todd Satterlee (wife Tressia) & Chad Satterlee (fiancée Elizabeth Gaus), four grandchildren Josh, Nicole, Lindsey & Ryan Satterlee & his three brothers Bryan Satterlee (wife Pat), Tom Satterlee (wife Randy) & Bruce Satterlee (wife Mandy). A gathering of family & friends will be held on Saturday September 14th from 4-6 pm followed by service at 6pm at Memphis Funeral Home.
