Richard E. Wood, age 77, of Memphis, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, January 15, 2022. Richard was born September 19, 1944, in Shiloh, Tennessee, to Luke and Christine Wood. He graduated from Adamsville High School, Class of 1962. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Memphis.
Richard previously worked for Sears and Roebuck, Pulliam Nursery, Memphis Millwork, and Shelby Millwork. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and listening to bluegrass music.
Richard's family were longtime residents of Shiloh. He had a fond love of walking and hiking in the woods around Shiloh, in addition to the Great Smoky Mountains and other areas. He had a knack and talent for crafting very unique and beautiful walking sticks.
Richard is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sara; daughter, Rachel Liberto (Zach); and grandchildren, Madie Grace, Sterling, and Wilson Parker. He was preceded in death by his brother, Herbert Wood.
The family will receive friends at a visitation on Thursday, January 20 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN 38119. Funeral services celebrating his life will immediately follow, at 2:00 PM.
Graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 22 at 12:00 Noon, at Shady Grove Cemetery, 790 McNairy Drive, Shiloh, TN 38376.
