Robert Lee White, Esq. his friends and family knew him as Bob and Grandpaw, was born in Alamo, TN on March 31, 1932, the only child of George Robert White and Ora Lee White. He spent his early childhood in North Carolina, and later moved to Memphis. He attended and graduated from Tech High School in Memphis. He was drafted into the US Army during the Korean War. After returning from service, Mr. White attended Vanderbilt University to pursue a degree in Law. He earned his Juris Doctor degree at the University of Memphis. Upon opening his legal practice in Memphis, Mr. White was one of the first tenants to occupy the 100 N. Main Building in downtown Memphis. He retired from practicing law in 1999.
Robert White is survived by his wife of 66 years, Wilda Inez White, (nee McClintock). They had two sons, Robert Michael White and Glenn Lee White, Daughter-in-laws, Lynette Rose White and Michelle Kilbleski, six grandchildren, Steven M. White, Robert Christopher White, Krystle Chanelle Vann, Donald Lee White, Glenn Lee White, Ashley Paige White and six great grandchildren.
The family will receive guests on Saturday, September 26, 2020 from 1-2pm with a memorial service immediately following at 2pm at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Ave., Memphis, TN 38122. The burial will take place at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 4000 Forest Hill Irene Rd, Memphis, TN 38125 on Monday, October 5, 2020 at 2pm.
