Roxanne Watkins

Roxanne Hargis Watkins, born in Warren, Arkansas, on December 31, 1955, died Thursday, October 16, 2025, in Memphis, Tennessee. Roxanne attended schools in Warren and later Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia where she majored in accounting. After graduation, she worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas in Dallas. While there, she met and married Dennis Watkins, a native of Atlanta, Georgia. While in Texas, they welcomed their three children. During their forty-three years of marriage, they lived in Plano, Texas, High Point, North Carolina, Franklin, Tennessee, Germantown, Tennessee, and Little Rock, Arkansas. After Dennis’ retirement, they returned to the Memphis area.

Roxanne was a believer in and a follower of Jesus Christ. She and Dennis were members of Bellevue Baptist Church in Memphis.

Predeceasing Roxanne were her parents, Sue and Bernie Hargis, Jr. Surviving are her husband, Dennis Watkins of Cordova, Tennessee; two sons, David Watkins (Paige) of Nashville, Tennessee, and Daniel Watkins of Cordova, Tennessee, and a daughter, Sarah Watkins of Honolulu, Hawaii; four grandchildren, Lucas, Levi, Elaine and Vivienne Watkins; a brother, Bernie Hargis (Barbara) of Fort Worth, Texas; a niece, Anne Olson (Matthew), of Dallas, Texas, and numerous cousins, in-laws, grand-nephews and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family favors Bellevue Baptist Church, Cordova, TN.

A celebration of life service will take place on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at 2:00 PM, at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM, at the funeral home. Burial will occur at Memphis Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, Bartlett, TN.
