Velma Fox Woodard

Velma Fox Woodard, age 80 went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 25, 2015. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a lifelong member of Forestview Church of Christ and retired from Shelby County Juvenile Court. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin Fox and Martha Yates Fox; her husband of 45 years, Paul Woodard; four brothers, Dorsey Fox, Charles Fox, Doyle Fox and Jerry Fox. She is survived by three daughters, Judy Woodard Bell, Susan Woodard (Mike) West, Ann Woodard (Ken) Roach; one son, William Paul (Laura) Woodard II, seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and by two sisters, Frances Hill and Virginia Gustafson. The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Tuesday January 27 at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday January 28 at Forestview Church of Christ. Interment will follow in Northridge-Woodhaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Mrs. Woodard may be offered to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
