Jack Roberts, born March 14, 1941, in Memphis, TN, to parents William Harold and Francis Wiseman Roberts.
Jack graduated from South Side High School in 1959 where he was an honor student, Eagle Scout, and All-Star athlete. After graduating high school, Jack attended Rice University and The University of Mississippi on an N.R.O.T.C. scholarship, where he received his BBA. While at The University of Mississippi he was awarded the Houghland Memorial Plaque. After college he served as a Lt. in the US Navy during the Vietnam conflict. After serving 10 years in the US Navy and receiving his CPA from the State of Tennessee, Jack began his career in finance with The Peat Marwick Accounting Firm, in Memphis, TN. In 1977, he joined Federal Express Corp. where he became Vice President of Finance. Jack served on various Boards of Directors; Memphis Jaycees-TN Jaycees as Treasurer, Memphis Oral School for the Deaf as Board Chairman, Colonial Country Club as Chairman of the Finance Committee, and Chairman of the FedEx - St. Jude Pro-Am for 20 years. (Jack was an avid golfer, beating pro, Mark O’Meara’s score in the Pro-Am Tournament! He also scored 3 Hole-in-Ones during his lifetime!)
As a member of Germantown Baptist Church, Jack and Nancy especially enjoyed attending the Choir programs. He worked hard and loved big. He adored his wife, Nancy, of 57 years (+8 years they dated!) He loved and supported his three children, Ken, Kelly, and Jason but his seven grandchildren, Hunter, Chandler, Andrew, Jackson, Evelyn, Cade, and Jonas were the light of his day! He was very invested in their activities, attending LOTS of games; even coaching his grandsons in the Germantown Baptist basketball league for several years.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents, William Harold and Francis Wiseman Roberts; his sister, Jane Roberts Allen; and his grandson, Jackson James Roberts. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Sharp Roberts; son, Kenneth Jackson Roberts (Lisa); daughter, Kelly Roberts Fick (Jeff); son, Jason Alan Roberts (Toni); grandchildren, Hunter Matthew Fick (Liz); Chandler Roberts Cummins (Sam); Andrew Joseph Fick; Evelyn Sharp Roberts; Cade Michael Fick; Jonas Alexander Roberts; brother, Jim Roberts; brother, John Roberts (Kathy); brother, Jeff Roberts (Becky); many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
