Walter Lewis Humphrey was born to the late Clarence Dorse and Alberta House on June 12, 1937, in Michigan City, Mississippi.He confessed his faith in Christ and was baptized at an early age.Walter moved to Memphis in 1962. He was a devoted employee of Illinois Central Railroad until his retirement.Walter Humphrey leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted wife of forty-eight years, Delane Humphrey; his daughter, Sahnna Chism, and his step-daughter, Kimberly Braxton, both of Memphis, Tennessee; his sister, Doris Woodard of Memphis, Tennessee; four brothers, Lorenzo Dorse (Sharon) of Memphis, Tennessee, and Lemmie Dorse, John Dorse (Harriette), & Berneal Dorse (Sara), all of Nashville, Tennessee; three grandchildren, Joshua McClenton, Martrell Robinson, and Terrira Chism, all of Memphis, Tennessee; six great-grandchildren, Shala McClenton of West Memphis, Arkansas, and Joshua McClenton, Jr., Tariyah Jones, Journee McClenton, Johnathan McClenton, & Javion Gaddy of Memphis, Tennessee; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
