It has been over a year and I have thought of you everyday. You were not just my brother but my best friend. I have found myself so many times wanting to call for advise. I have been repairing things and thought of you and how you taught me. Thinking sometimes you were up there laughing at me. I love you and miss you but am happy that you no longer suffer in this wicked world that exist today. One day we will meet again. 

I have done my best to settle your affairs that you left, trying to think like you thought and how you would have handled the situations that have come up. This has not been easy but has taught me there are things I should be doing now.

Mile was my brother but so much more than that. I changed his diapers taught him many things when he was a baby and was a second mother to him later growing up. He was a beautiful baby and later a beautiful man. I have missed seeing him since I live in Texas but came home when I could. There was never something he couldn't t fix unless it was beyond fixing. Our broken hearts will mend but never be the same since he won t be here to fix them.  He was full of fun  love  and honor.  He will never be forgotten by the ones who love him. He will be waiting for us and until then will be helping out in heaven.  God bless him now and forever.

Mike there are no words to express how empty I feel . I miss your voice touch huggs and kisses. You were my knight in shinning armour. You had sa many gifts. Two words were NOT in your vocabulary Broken & No because everything could be fixed and no was so final. You taught me so many things.  You left a huge foot print in this old world and made it a better place. A pair of shoes no one can ever fill. Many tears have and will fall and God is collecting them. My world is dimmer and empty now but I know that you went ahead of me and have got Gaberial and are Waitng on me to arrive. I love and miss you more than words could ever express. Thank you for loving and taking care of me and my kids and your grand daughters are asking  about you. Keep a watch on us and I pray we will make you proud as proud are we are of you. My heart is saddened to hear of Mike's passing, but know that he is in the Arms of Jesus and we will all meet again.  I have worked with Mike, many years ago and remember him to be a compassionate person.  May God comfort all of the family in their grief and sorrow and his many friends.

I love you more than words can ever say-we weren't just brother and sister but pals and confidents. You were my best friend, you helped me raise Mike & Tim and were their dad.  You were always there to advise and help me in whatever I was doing. You taught me so much. I miss you so much, your big strong hugs and kisses,I miss talking to you everyday and hearing your voice. I was the luckiest girl on earth cause I had you as my brother I am so thankful that God picked you to be my brother. I am so thankful for your life and what it stood for. Came on the job with Mike and for all the years I have known him he was a honest and hard working man on and off the job . He was quick to help anyone that he could , was kind and I never new him to hurt anyone but he also didn't back down when he was abused by anyone no matter the circumstances. His humor and kind heart will be missed by us all.

Mike was my uncle. He was a kind, gentle spirit. He was always there for my family when they were in need. He went out of his way to make our visits fun and comfortable from setting up the spa so we could "swim" in the winter, to buying my brother a scooter when he couldn't pay for it himself. He was an honest and hard-working man. He would go that extra step for every job, every task he did. When my mother's house was without heat, he went and fixed her heater. He gave himself wholly, without expecting anything in return. There are many lives he touched and many people who will cry themselves to sleep in his absence. But he leaves a strong legacy of a wonderful life and as one of the greatest of men. We love you Mike.

Mike, You sent me the following message on your last Birthday, 12/25/14:  "Merry Christmas Jim. I made another birthday. Dr. tells me the old tubes are worn out the next one is going to be a real struggle. Thanks for beign such a good friend thru the years."  My reply was:  "I cherish our friendship!"  From riding in together in the squad car as Patrolmen in the '70s to working together in as Captains, you always demonstrated you were first a foremost a Family Man.  You looked after your Mother & Sisters.  You cared about those who called you "Uncle."  You worked hard, often having more than two profession, at the same time being a good policeman.  When you got married you always talked about how much you loved your wife and her children!  We talked a lot.  You assured me of your Christian Faith.  I still cherish our friendship and look forward to spending eternity in Heaven with our Lord and you!

Mike was a good Capt. and friend.  He will be missed.

My world is a little dimmer, but your memory will continue to live on in my heart.

Mike was one of those very rare people who constantly and consistently practiced what they preached. "Treat me like you want me to treat you."
I rode with him back in the old "Quinn Sector" out East, when I first came on the job. He treated everyone with the same dignity and respect he expected in return. He taught me things that no book on law enforcement could ever cover. When I made a mistake he would say: "Here let's try it this other way." His way got us both to the end of the shift and safely home.
Later on, Mike brought home in a strong, loud and clear, message to those who claimed to advocate due process, that these words apply to all, not just some. He brought reality and sanity back to the societal misfits of this world in his own steady and subtle way.
Never one to pander to anyone, and always to stand up for his beliefs, he was one of the best advocates you could have.
I am glad, honored, and feel extremely proud to have ridden with him and learned from him.  
Mike, you gave meaning to being brave, courageous and standing up for what is right. Even when confronted with impossible odds.
And yes, you were a policeman's policeman in every sense of the word!
Knowledge, Courage, and Integrity, the motto words of the Memphis Police Department were very real entities for you. 
Rest well partner in knowing you made a difference.

I knew Mike from the MPD and recently took a handgun class from him. He was a gracious sweet man. Praying for the family during this very difficult time.
