William (Bill) T. Young, 93, went to his heavenly home on Saturday, June 26, 2021, while in the arms his bride of 69 years, Alfa Young. Bill was born to the late Henry Clay and Fannie Jewell Young on June 15, 1928, in Luxora, AR.
He was a beloved husband and was cherished by his 6 children: Jerry Mayher and Linda, Michael Young and Valerie, Stuart Young and Ella, Stanley Young, April Garrett and Mickey, and Karen Scarbrough and Tommy. Bill was Papaw to his 14 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. He was also loved by countless nieces and nephews.
Bill was an Honor Guard for General Douglas MacArthur in occupied Japan from 1946-1947. On Bill and Alfa’s Golden 50th Anniversary, they had the privilege of visiting where he served.
He retired from Memphis Funeral Home after over 40 years of service.
The visitations will be held at Central Church in Collierville, TN, on Tuesday, June 29th, from 6 pm – 8 pm, and Wednesday, June 30th, from 11 am – 1 pm. The service will be at Central Church on Wednesday from 1 pm – 2 pm. Following the service, Bill will be laid to rest at Memorial Gardens on Germantown Road in Bartlett, TN.
In lieu of flowers, Bill’s wishes were to have memorials made to Central Church.
