Dr. William David Dunavant, Jr passed away at his home on September 3, 2024. He was born in Memphis on October 2, 1949. He attended Memphis University School and then went to The University of Mississippi. He attended The University of Tennessee Medical School where he also completed his surgery residency. He was a long time member of Bellevue Baptist Church.
He was a brilliant and gifted physician like his father before him. He helped countless people with compassion and unwavering dedication. His love for Jesus led his life and career. He loved teaching and many physicians today have benefited from his lessons and experience. He was much loved by everyone in his medical practice including his patients and staff. He loved spending time with his family, playing golf, and Ole Miss football. He will be sorely missed every day by so many.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Dora and William David Dunavant Sr, his sister, Denise Dunavant, and his daughter, Kristin Dunavant. He leaves behind his sisters, Dixie Husband and Diane Hollingsworth, his wife, Martha, and his sons, David III, Michael, and Jonathan. He also leaves behind his granddaughters, Grace Anne, Elizabeth, Weezie, and Dylan and his grandsons, Haygood and Mack.
Family and friends will gather on Tuesday, September 10th from nine o'clock in the morning until funeral services begin at ten o'clock in the morning all in North Hall at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee 38119.
He is at home now with his Lord and Savior.
