William Duane Greene

William Duane Greene, born on June 5, 1956, in Cherry Point, North Carolina, passed away on November 27, 2025, at the age of 69, after a valiant battle with Parkinson's Disease . He was a resident of Memphis, Tennessee.

Bill graduated from Trezevant High School, Class of 1974, where he was given the nickname "Mean Greene." Music was one of Bill's passions in life. He played guitar and bass in various bands and worship teams. Bill worked in industrial sales for many years at Memphis Control Center and later retired from Advanced Thermal Systems. Bill was devoted to and cherished his family. Bill was a member of Missouri Street Church of Christ; his deep Christian faith shaped every part of his life.

He is survived by his wife and best friend, Sally Rose Greene; children, Julie Renee Greene Hollowell, Benjamin Ismail (Jerid), Shelby Wade (Drew), and Katie Greene; and grandchildren, Kirby-Lynn Hollowell (John Landon), Kaylee Hollowell, Blakely Wade, and Tate William Wade. Bill is also survived by two brothers, Thomas Payne (Ginger) and Christopher Payne. He was preceded in death by his parents, Darrell Greene and Louise Moretta Payne, and his step-father, Melvin Payne.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate and remember Bill's life on Thursday, December 4, with visitation beginning at 10:30 AM and and his funeral service at 11:30 AM, at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee. Burial will immediately follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
