

Eugene L. Horn, (Buster/Gene), age 74, of Menasha, passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at his home. On June 2, 1938, Eugene was born on the family farm in Sherwood, the youngest son of the late Jacob and Elizabeth (Schmidt) Horn. He graduated from Hilbert High School and then enlisted in the United States Army. After being discharged, Buster worked for Wisconsin Tissue Mills for over 40 years. In his earlier years, he enjoyed hunting and partying at his cabin in Argonne. Later on, Gene spent numerous hours fishing with his brother, Norbert and sharing their catch at “Old Fart Fish Fries”. He loved nature and being outdoors. Gene enjoyed wood working and playing cards or Cribbage with his friends. He was a very kind soul with a tender heart.
Gene will be missed by his sisters: Josephine Van Linn and Betty (Tony) Mallmann; a sister-in-law, Shirley Horn; many nieces and nephews and their families; and his friends that played cards and cribbage with Gene.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters: Norbert (Barbara) Horn, Angie (Greg) Weber, Marie (Norbert) Vandeyacht, Georgie Porter and Marvin Horn; a brother-in-law, Eugene Van Linn; two nephews: Donny and Jerry; and a niece, JoAnne.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at Martens-Laemmrich Funeral Home, 312 Milwaukee Street, Menasha, with Chaplain Jordan Kuczwara officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 am until the hour of the service at the funeral home. Interment will take place at St. John Catholic Cemetery in St. John. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
