

He proudly served his country in the United States Army, an experience that reflected his sense of duty and commitment.
He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth Bumgarner, with whom he shared 56 wonderful years together. Together, they built a life grounded in love, partnership, family and friends.
Known for his outgoing nature and genuine love of people, Donald Dean Dykstra never met a stranger. He had a gift for conversation and connection, making friends wherever he went.
Professionally, he worked in the tire industry as a sales representative and auditor, where his personable approach and strong work ethic earned him both success and lasting relationships.
Beyond his career, he had a strong passion for sports and friendships. He played baseball, softball, bowling. He started coaching a recreational softball women’s team back in the seventies and over the years he was so proud to take them with another coach (Steve Alessi) to the top level of the Women’s Major Division. He loved teaching hitting lessons to young girls all the way thru college. He served as a coach at LMU & Point Loma Colleges. Since Don did not have any children, he thought of most of them as his & was able to stay in touch with them. After his softball days he became an avid golfer and played most of his bucket list of golf courses. He lived on a golf course and made so many wonderful friends there. Anytime he could you would find him there playing with either the men or the women and making some wonderful memories.
Donald Dean Dykstra will be remembered for his kindness, his vibrant personality, and the many lives he touched. His presence will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth Bumgarner his brother Harry Dykstra, his sister Debi Minick and his nieces Jennifer Burton, Kaitlyn Beekman, nephews Matthews Minick, Arend Dykstra and our beloved extended family.
