Francis Raymond Berry (Ray) was born in Johnstown, PA on January 16, 1931. He was married to Jean Ann Berry for 61 years until her passing in 2014. He is survived by his children Karen- Hawaii, Meg- Colorado, and David- California, five grandchildren Sarah, Adam, Kristen, Kyle, and John and three great grandchildren: Kellan, Grayson, and Nolan.
Ray and Jean met in 1950 as they both worked for a Bethlehem Steel Railroad. They married in 1953 while he was in the Air Force. He was stationed in England and after his return they started their family, including many dogs.
After moves to Tennessee and Pennsylvania, Ray returned to Anaheim and retired early from Glass Containers Corporation where he worked as a controller and decided to become a realtor to fill his days. Ray and Jean worked as a team to help families find their dream home for over 30 years. He sold his last house at the age of 87.
Ray could always be found on the field or in the stands at Karen’s softball and David’s baseball games. He coached David in Little League through Senior League. Ray played baseball when he was young and taught David how to throw the knuckleball. He never missed a high school or college game when David was pitching. High school parades by Karen and Meg were a treat for him to attend.
When Ray and Jean moved to Menifee, Ray taught Jean to golf. They golfed all over the United States including Guam while visiting family and friends. His golf pencil collection was impressive. His favorite trips always included family, whether it was everyone gathering at Meg’s home for Christmas, walking the beaches on Maui with Karen’s family or spending time with David’s family.
Ray and Jean were active at both St. Justin Martyr Catholic Church, Anaheim and St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church, Sun City. Ray’s duties included collection/counting, ushering and Pro-life.
On December 31st, our loving father, grandad and good friend took a fast express to Heaven to be reunited with Mom who was the love of his life– we all believe this.
The funeral mass will be scheduled at a later date.
A LIFE WELL-LIVED FOR GOD AND FAMILY AND FRIENDS.
