James Warren Willis, age 88, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2026. He was born on July 27, 1937, in Arkansas, where his remarkable journey began.
At age 18, James proudly joined the United States Navy, serving his country with honor and dedication for 4 years. His time in service helped shaped the discipline, integrity, and strong sense of duty that he carried throughout his life.
James dedicated over 50 years of his life to his career as an Aerospace Engineer, where his intellect, precision, and passion for innovation left an enduring mark. But beyond his professional success, it was his unwavering devotion to family and community that defined him most.
He is survived by his four beloved children — Cynthia, Candis, Christine, Brian his son-in-law Dan and daughter-in-law Valerie — who were his greatest pride and joy. His legacy continues through his 13 grandchildren: Shauna, Mark, Jonathan, Tim, Candi, Christopher, Kevin, Justin, Anthony, Danielle, Andrew, Travis, and Kyle, and their spouses, Chris, Lynette, Ruth, Alyssa, Aaron, Kaileen, Mallory and Mariah; his 19 great-grandchildren: Ayden, Audrey, Marky, Casey, Kahne, Camden, Kaleb, Myles, Emma, Victoria, Blakely, Carter, Brysen, Olivia, Rylee, Dawson, Easton, Paisley, and Oliver — each of whom brought immense love and happiness to his life. He is also survived by his brothers Daryl and Larry Willis.
James was the embodiment of altruism. No matter the challenge, he was always there — finding a way to help his family, friends, or anyone in need. He spent many wonderful years as a baseball coach, where his kindness, patience, and leadership inspired countless young players and earned the respect and love of both athletes and parents alike. He served for many years as a baseball board member helping to organize and run the little, major and senior baseball leagues.
Outside of work and coaching, James enjoyed golf, finding joy and peace on the course. Perhaps most of all, he cherished every opportunity to cheer on his grandchildren at their sporting events, proudly supporting them from the stands with a warm smile and endless encouragement.
James Warren Willis will be remembered as a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, mentor, and friend — a man whose heart and generosity knew no bounds. His love, wisdom, and example will forever guide those who were fortunate enough to know him. He lived fully, loved deeply, and left a legacy of kindness that will never fade.
A visitation will be held on March 9, 2026, from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm at Miller-Jones Menifee Memorial Park and Mortuary, located at 26770 Murrieta Rd., Menifee, CA 92585.
