Jorge was born on May 29, 1960 at his family home in Bacadehuachi, Sonora. He was the son of Jesus and Gertrudis Valencia. Jorge grew up in Bacadehuachi, Sonora, Mexico.
Jorge was raised with 8 Siblings. Jose Pedro, Jesus, Sergio, Jose, Juan, Loretta and Javier. Jorge was usually involved in all sorts of activities with his siblings. He and his siblings shared many life experiences over the years.
As a young boy, Jorge had a number of interests. As a child Jorge enjoyed creating games and things to do in the small town. Jorge was an active child who took part in baseball and soccer. He was a coach for Little League and Soccer where his sons played. In his spare time he played baseball himself, strummed his guitar and loved taking long walks and hikes. However, to Jorge, the most fun to be had was simply playing and spending time with his family and friends.
Always considered a “good” friend and "prankster" to those he knew, Jorge enjoyed a broad group of acquaintances and several very close friends during his lifetime. While growing up, some of his best friends were his brothers and sons.
On August 13, 2022 Jorge exchanged wedding vows with Rosa Elena Ortega at the home of his eldest son, Jorge in Menifee CA. Empathic and loyal, Jorge was committed to making his family happy.
Jorge worked hard to be a good father to his children and he did his best to fulfill their needs. He was father to Jorge, Willy and Adrian and a loving stepfather to Melly and Ricardo. Another blessing for Jorge was the gift of 11 grandchildren - Tyler, Julian, Gigi, Abby, Gavin, Emma, Sophia, Isabella (monster) Mila, Olivia and Sebastian.
Fortunately, Jorge enjoyed what he did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Jorge worked diligently and did his best to succeed in his career. His primary occupation was Concrete Finisher. He was employed for many years with the concrete laborers union. Jorge always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.
Jorge found great pleasure in playing, coaching and watching sports. In grammar school and high school, Jorge played baseball. Recreational sports he played included adult baseball league(s) as well as coaching. Jorge was also a huge sports fan and enjoyed following his favorite events whenever he had the chance to do so. Tops on his list were baseball, soccer, boxing and football.
Jorge enjoyed traveling and time away on vacation. It was a chance for him to relax and enjoy his family and friends, to visit new places and experience new things. His favorite vacations included visiting his home town, camping and the beach.
Jorge was a lover of animals and cherished his pets. One of his favorites was Molly, a Yorkie. They were best friends for 10 years. His family was rounded out by his other Yorkie mix, Daisy.
When Jorge’s retirement finally arrived in 2018, he was well prepared. His new life involved relocating to Green Valley AZ with his wife. Even in retirement, Jorge continued to stay in touch with his old friends back home while making plenty of new acquaintances. Jorge was active in his new community and felt fulfilled with the opportunities retirement offered him. Jorge literally, made friends every place he went!
Jorge passed away on September 8, 2022 at Loma Linda Hospital. Jorge fought a brave battle against pancreatic cancer.
Simply stated, Jorge was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Jorge leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember, Jorge Valencia.
