Our brother Steve was the oldest of six siblings. He took his role as big brother very seriously. You can probably imagine all the stories our family could tell with six kids running around.  One of many memories that stands out is when my mom left Steve in charge while she went to the store. I was about seven. We were all running (racing) up and down the hall from one room to the other. I fell and bumped my forehead. Steve knew he had to put something cold on the quickly emerging bump on my head. He had seen my mom place the smooth side of a cold butter knife on someone else’s bump. So he quickly ran to the kitchen, grabbed a butter knife, and placed the cold, smooth side of the knife on the bump. 
For some reason, he thought he was supposed to press hard to push the bump down. It hurt so much! When my mom told him that all he needed to do was put something cold to help the swelling go down, he felt horrible. He came to me and gave me a tender hug and told me he was sorry.  It was a very warming  moment that I will always cherish.  Steve loved and respected our parents and he loved his family. He was so proud to be the oldest.  I will miss his calls that always started with, “ Hi Jewie, this is your big brother Stevie”.

Hello everyone this is Johnathan Pekarcik Stephen Pekarcik son as you all know we lost my Dad on June 4 2024 he will be deeply missed he was a great Man and awesome Father he had a loving Wife Cathy Pekarcik who we also lost July 2017 to cancer my dad supported his family me and my sister Sarah and my mother our whole life he worked 5-7 days a week made sure all bills were paid and food was on the table and we had a roof over our heads traditional family man who never divorced and always took care of his family a rare breed that no longer exist in most cases these days I loved my father and he will be missed rest in paradise 🙏🙏
