Susima Underwood

Susima Underwood, a cherished individual known for her hard work, love of family, and unwavering faith, left us on January 22nd, 2025, at her home in Menifee, CA at the age of 80, after a brief battle with cancer.

She was born on January 6th, 1945, in the Northern Provence of Samar in the Republic of the Philippines. Daughter of Francisco and Celerina Morillo, Susima was one of ten children.

Susima married her first husband and had two sons, Ricky and Renie. Tragically, she suffered the loss of her husband and raised her sons alone. She worked mercilessly to provide for her boys.

Susima met William Underwood Jr while he was an enlisted member of the U.S. Navy stationed in the Philippines. William had recently lost his wife and they bonded over their similar life experiences. Their relationship grew from friendship to love and a few years later they welcomed a daughter, Resty and son, Bill. They made the decision to move from the Philippines to California.

Susima left behind her homeland and everything she had been accustomed to with the dream of providing a better life for their children. “We came to the states with fifty dollars. Imagine that.” She would always say.

She enjoyed her garden and watching shows with her husband. She was also an exceptional cook and made sure that everyone who entered her home was always well fed and taken care of. She took pride in these simple endeavors and we took pride in what she stood for.

Susima Underwood, an extraordinary woman, devoted wife, and loving mother. You will forever live in our hearts and always be remembered.

She is survived by her four children, Ricky Siman, Renie Siman, Resty Underwood, and Bill Underwood. She had seven grandchildren; Breanna Evinger, Olivia Evinger, Raquel Siman, Ethan Underwood, Rileigh Underwood, Dylan Underwood, and Owen Underwood.

A visitation for Susima will be held Friday, March 7, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Miller-Jones Menifee Memorial Park and Mortuary, 26770 Murrieta Rd., Menifee, CA 92585. A funeral service will occur Friday, March 7, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 26770 Murrieta Rd., Menifee, CA 92585. A committal service will occur Friday, March 7, 2025 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Boulevard, Riverside, CA 92518.
