Hauenstein, June E. (nee Faber) passed away peacefully on Friday, January 25, 2013 at the age of 81. Beloved wife of the late John W. Loving mother of Linda Hauenstein (Chris Czerwinski) of Pewaukee, and Theresa (Eric) Hucke of Hartland. Loving grandmother of Jacob, Alyssa and Caydee. Dear sister of Dan (Jackie) Faber of St. Louis, MO. Dear stepmother of Mari (Jim) Janecek of Payson, AZ, John (Barbara) Hauenstein of Brookfield, WI and Joan (Dewey Gill) Gayton of Milwaukee, WI. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
June had a very active and fulfilling life. Born and raised in Milwaukee, and stayed there through graduation, receiving her BBA-Marketing from Marquette University. During her time at MU, she enjoyed many travels, including summers working at Yellowstone National Park. After graduation, she continued travelling, including Europe, where she spent time in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. During that time she worked in the Army as a civilian employee, and witnessed first hand Germany splitting between east and west. When she was not working, she would be on the slopes in the Alps skiing. When she left to come back to the US, she bought her first two loves that came back with her; her first VW bug and her German shepherd, Koji.
Once back in the states, she worked at several companies, most notably, Harley-Davidson, where she met her husband, John. They married and had two wonderful and supportive daughters, Linda and Theresa. After John’s passing, June raised her two daughters as she herself had lived; travel often, dance to polka, never miss an Irish parade, and enjoy your time with family and friends.
She worked for 18 years and retired from the US Post Office in 2000 as a postal clerk. After retirement, she spent her free time skiing, visiting family in St. Louis and attending golf tournaments, UW-Badger and Green Bay Packer football games.
The love she had for her daughters carried over to her grandchildren, whom she was able to enjoy every day.
A special thanks to the entire staff at Marian Franciscan Woods, and especially Cherie, who took June under their care for the last few months prior to her passing.
Visitation Monday, January 28 at the funeral home from 4 to 7p.m. and on Tuesday, January 29 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church (3970 N. 92nd St., Milwaukee) from 10 to 11a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial at 11a.m. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.
