

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our aunt, Adeline Lorraine Eger, nee Rittner. She died peacefully in her home in Merced California on Sunday, August 17, 2025. She was 97 years old.
Aunt "lne" as we called her, is the last member of ten siblings. She was born in Cresson, Pennsylvania on October 19, 1927 to Joseph and Jennie Rittner.
She had a very active lifestyle, she loved to walk, which she did every day about two miles. She was a kind and generous person. She had many friends in the area including Ada Causa, Yvonne Pacheco, Loraine Ross and Carrie Frye with awesome neighbors in her Court.
She was a very devout Catholic and volunteered at her church as well as volunteering at Saint Vincent de Paul. She loved her Pennsylvania sports teams, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers which she cheered on at every game. She also loved the opera, her favorite "Madam Butterfly." She often went to New York City or San Francisco to the performances.
She was a loving mother to her son Martin, who passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at the young age of 58. She was a devoted Military wife to Alvin Thomas Eger, who passed away on August 16, 1994. He was a retired Msgt. in the USAF.
In addition, her first husband, Clarence Howe, as well as her parents, Joseph and Jennie Rittner, six brothers, Anthony, Frank, Robert, Louis, William and James and three sisters, Mary, Evelyn and Geraldine preceded her in death.
She will be missed.
She is survived by her niece Deborah (Dryburgh O'Malley) and nephew Peter O'Malley as welt as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
A rosary will be held Thursday, August 28, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Patrick's Catholic Church followed by the interment at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery.
