Our beloved Bobbie Jo Gallon earned her wings and peacefully transitioned on January 14, 2018 in Modesto, CA at the age of 86, with her family by her side. She began life on February 22, 1931 in Seminole, OK. She was the fourth daughter of Pearl Handy Rhodes. She accepted Christ at an early age and was an active member of Cooper AME Zion for 18 years in Oakland, CA.
As a young lady Bobbie relocated to California to continue her education. She received her high school diploma from Merced High School in 1949. She furthered her education at Laney College in Oakland, CA.
She married her sweetheart, Franklin Pierce Gallon, on February 25, 1951. Three children were born to this union: Phyllis, Keith and Kenneth. Bobbie was a devoted wife, loving mother and an exceptional grandmother. She was known to be a God-fearing woman who trusted the Lord to guide her in making wise decisions for and about her family. She showed her family and friends, in many ways, how she loved them by baking her special cakes, pies, dinner rolls, ect.... This was a particularly delightful display of her love. She was a thoughtful and giving woman who was friendly and easy to talk to. She loved to talk and no one was a stranger. Her favorite hobbies were fishing, reading and baking. Bobbie worked at many different jobs and eventually employed and worked for 30 years as a teacher with the Walpert Center for the Developmentally Disabled in Hayward, CA until her retirement.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her mother; beloved husband of 65 years, Franklin; son Keith; grandson Ellis Mcfee; sisters Coriene Cater (McKay), Emma J. Grant (James), Hazel Dale, and Jacqueline Bulluck; brother Abraham Rhodes.
Bobbie leaves to cherish many precious memories; her daughter Phyllis Morton (Booker) of Oakland, CA.; her son Kenneth Gallon of Merced, CA.; her grandchildren; Andre McFee, Nicole Ross (Frank), Keith Jr. and Precious Gallon; her sister Joyce Dorsey; her brothers Leonard and Myron Rhodes. She will be missed by a host of others relatives; in-laws, great grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.
Her work is finished here below. Life's weary task is done, but let us say with cheerful hearts, "Dear Lord, Thy will be done."
