7/9/38-12/17/12
Mack McCoy Scoggins, a Merced resident since 1964, was born on July 9, 1938 in Rutherfordton, NC and passed away on December 17, 2012 in Modesto, California at the age of 74.
Mack served in the U. S. Air Force and while in the service he finished his High School education and was trained to work as an electrician. He was very proud of these accomplishments and after he returned home he began his 45-year career as an Industrial Electrician.
In 2002, Mack received a heart transplant. He was so very grateful for the gift he received and meeting the donor’s family was such a special part of that occasion.
Mack enjoyed fishing, building and just fixing things around the house. He built his own home, his daughter’s home, and a houseboat the family enjoyed. Mack had a great sense of humor; you had to be careful around him because he loved playing practical jokes on people. He was a fun loving man and anyone that came to know him, grew to love him. He truly will be missed by all.
Mack was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Agnes Scoggins and sister, Kathleen Sweatmon.
He leaves behind his wife of 34 years, Linda Scoggins; sons, Jeff (Lori) Scoggins and Marty (Nicki) Poor; daughters, Kelley (Dony) Satterlee, Vanette (Don) Norton, and Diana Poor; brother, William (Evelyn) Scoggins; sisters, Beatrice Rollins, Grace Coswell, and Becky Champion; 13 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers family requests donations be made to California Transplant Donor Network, 1000 Broadway, Ste. 600, Oakland, CA 94607 or One Legacy Foundation, 221 S. Figueroa St., Ste. 500, Los Angeles, CA 90012.
