Marjorie Ellen Gallagher

Marjorie Ellen Gallagher was born in Merced, CA March 6, 1928 and peacefully passed away in Merced, CA on October 23, 2011 at the age of 83. She had been suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Margret Sloat, her husband of many years, James P. Gallagher and her sister, Betty DeRosa. She is survived by her son, Michael Gallagher and wife Judy of Glendale, AZ, her daughter Patricia Gallagher of Merced and son Daniel Gallagher and wife Denise of Merced, grandsons Daniel and Patrick Gallagher of Merced and brother-in-law E.R. DeRosa. She had numerous nieces and nephews.

Marge will be most remembered for her service as a Registered Nurse. Born in Merced, Marge attended Merced High School and graduated from Burlingame High School. She received her nursing degree from Providence College of Nursing in Oakland, CA. She was a surgical nurse at Mercy Hospital, staff nurse at Merced Medical Clinic and concluded her career as an analyst for the State of California Medical Fraud Investigation. She spent years in Pacific, CA as well as Sacramento, CA returning to Merced in 1994.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be Thursday, October 27, 2011 at 7:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, October 28, 2011 at 10:00 AM. Both services will be at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 459 W. 21st Street, Merced, CA.

In lieu of flowers the family is requesting a donation in her name to the Mercy Hospital Foundation, 2740 M Street, Merced, CA 95340.
