Ronald Joseph Hoffart

Ron Hoffart, 56, of Merced, California, passed away surrounded by family on August 26, 2025, after a valiant battle with cancer. Born on November 25, 1968, in Burbank and raised in Simi Valley, Ron devoted his life to learning, teaching, and helping others.

He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from CSU Chico in 1994 and his Master’s degree with PPS Credentials in School Counseling and School Psychology in 1997. That same year, he married the love of his life, Donna. Together, they began their careers in Colusa County before moving to Merced in 2000, where Ron served in the Merced City School District and subsequently the Merced Union High School District. In 2023, he achieved his dream of becoming Vice Principal at Mitchell Senior School in Atwater. He also taught as an adjunct professor at Merced College and Fresno Pacific University.

Ron is survived by his wife, Donna; sons, Kyle and Jared; Jared’s girlfriend, Genevieve; his father, Maurus; and his brother, John, and John’s wife, Joanne. He was preceded in death by his mother, Veronica; brother, Maurus; and many beloved aunts and uncles.

Ron was a good friend to many and created a welcoming space where people felt heard, valued, and supported. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, sense of humor, and the lasting impact he made on the countless lives of those lucky enough to know him.

A Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at 8:30 a.m. with the Funeral Mass beginning at 9:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 671 E. Yosemite Avenue Merced, CA.
