Born in Snelling, to Manuel and Emelia Cotta, she has been a Merced County resident her whole life of 104 years. Her eighth-grade education was earned at the old McSwain School House that was on Hwy 140.
She married and raised her two sons on a small dairy farm (“The Ranch”, as she called it), where she milked cows, and grew sweet potatoes and watermelons.
She was not afraid of hard work; was the life of the party and she didn't mince words. She spoke her mind whether you liked it or not. That was our "Rosie", so full of life and experiences to share. She will be missed by all who loved and knew her. May God rest her soul.
A neighbor once said, “I was a sailor and Rosie still taught me some new words”. A very kind and generous person who would give a stranger the shirt off her back. Many family members and friends have benefited from her generosity.
Rose was preceded in death by her husband Earl, a son, Dave, her parents, sister Mary Quinn and brothers Joe and Manuel Cotta.
She is survived by her son, Lester Pacheco, Grandchildren, Tracy (Kevin) Brazil, Sean Pacheco, and Scott (Patti) Crosby Pacheco, 9 Great Grandchildren and 7 Great-Great Grandchildren as well as a number of extended family members and friends.
