Samuel James Lloyd

Sammy worked a number of jobs, but he worked as a gardener for the last 10 years off and on. He attended Merced Elementary Schools and Merced High School. Sammy had a host of friends and was loved by many. He always wanted to help people in need and he gave good advice to his friends and family. He was an avid fisherman and his favorite fish to catch was crappie. He was very competitive with his fishing buddies. He also taught a few of them how to catch fish. Sammy loved the outdoors and nature. His other passion was cooking, he was a great cook and everyone loved his “Salsa”. He enjoyed spending time with his wife on country rides and going to the casinos.

Sammy is survived by his beloved wife of 22 years, Annie Lloyd of Merced. They were together for 36 years and made their union official June 22, 2000. They were childhood friends at the young age of 8 and 9. They could never have imagined that they would be married and raise a beautiful family together. Family was everything to him. He loved his kids with all his heart. His children, First born, Crystal Price of Sacramento, Samuel James Lloyd IV, of Merced, Brittany Ann Lloyd of Merced, Asia Lloyd of Virginia, Jordan Lloyd of Merced and Jeremiah Lloyd of Virginia. His brothers, Randy Lloyd of Texas and Carl Pollard, of Merced. His sisters, Mary “Angie” Bradford, of Texas and Carla White, of Manteca. 10 grandchildren also survive him.

Sammy is preceded in death by his biological father, Samuel James Lloyd, brother Timothy Washington and David “Fred” Lloyd-Patterson.

He came from a close nit family and he adored his siblings. Sammy was raised by two wonderful people. His mother, Shirley was his “baby”, that’s what he called her. She was everything to him. His dad, Sam Emory was such a positive influence in his life. He was there for his son whenever he needed him. Sammy watched his dad preach and he always said, “That’s my dad”.

A Visitation for Sammy will be held Friday, June 24, 2022 from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home, located at 1490 B Street, Merced, Ca. The funeral service will be held Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 11:00 am at the Apostolic Tabernacle, Merced, Ca.
