Stephen Odell Blaylock

He spent his earlier years growing up in Modesto, California where he attended high school and was self-employed with Andrew’s Electric. He later moved back to Merced where he owned and operated Dom’s Electric Motor Shop for 37 years.

Stephen lived life to the fullest. He was passionate about flying, sailing, driving his 1965 GTO, making IPA beer and drinking fine wine. Some of his hobbies included hunting, fishing, scuba diving, golfing and traveling.

Stephen was a navy vet who took pride in helping serve his country. He was an active member of the Elks Club and Merced Golf and Country Club.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Joy Blaylock; children, Edward Blaylock, Andrew Blaylock (Melissa), Malissa Blaylock, Danielle Williamson (Ethan), Samantha Blaylock and Noel Blaylock; brother, Jim Blaylock; in-laws, Bob Clendenin (Peggy), Chuck Clendenin, Jeanne George (Leland) and Janice Guthrie (John); 2 granddaughters and one grandson on the way as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, all who will miss him dearly.

A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 from 3:00pm-5:00pm at the Merced Golf and Country Club located at 6333 Golf Road. Per the Request of Stephen there will be a private ceremony to scatter his ashes set for at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Children’s Hospital or the charity of your choosing.
