

William Henry Foster was born on May 10, 1927 to Walter and Geoigina Foster and passed away on December 29, 2017. Bill had a career with the U.S. Air Force. He became a Flying Crew member, Staff Officer and later an Organizational Commander. He met his late wife Grace at a Block Dance for WWII Veterans, in June of 1946. They were married on March 23, 1947. Bill and Grace enjoyed traveling and moving. Upon his retirement from the military service, he became active in the Masons, the Shriners Hospital for Children and the International Association Legion of Honor. He was also the treasurer of the Tehran Temple A.A.O.N.M.S. Together they enjoyed traveling to various Shriners Hospitals over North American for about 17 years. Bill enjoyed playing golf as often as possible. He always admitted he was never a good cook, but whenever he went to visit his family in the northeast, he would be seen with his cowboy hat enjoying fried clams. Bill enjoyed listening to Grace play the piano and sing in the choir. He was most proud of Grace's paintings that she painted herself. Bill is preceded in death by his wife Grace Foster; brother, Authur W. Foster and his sister, Dorothy Biscoe. He is survived by his son Stephen M. Foster of Merced, California, along with many nieces, nephews. There will be a visitation for Bill held on January 16, 2018 at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home, located at 1490 B Street, Merced, California, starting at 4-8:00pm. A service will be held at 7:00 pm by Merced Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. and the Masonic Lodge, #99 [email protected]. The funeral service will be held on January 17, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Luke's Anglican Church, 435 W 21st Street, Merced, California. Following with a graveside ceremony on January 18th, with full military honors at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, located in Santa Nella, California, at 2:30 pm.
