

William was born December 28, 1927 to George W. and Ellen Ladnier Switzer in Biloxi, Mississippi. He had 5 brothers and 1 sister. William graduated from Biloxi High School. He was retired from Crocker Bank after 32 years in Banking. Was in the United States Navy and was a veteran of Foreign Wars and had survived on the USS Boxer during the Korean War. He attended church with the Gospel Defenders Church and Christian Life Center, both in Merced, CA. He loved his God and served in numerous positions in the Body of Christ as a Sunday School Teacher, Board Member, Youth Minister, and praying and ministering for the sick. He enjoyed his family, gardening and golf.
William is preceded in death by his parents, George and Ellen Switzer; his
beloved siblings; his first wife, Imogene Basden Switzer (1984) and his second
wife, Anna Belle Switzer (2020).
He is survived by his children, Dr. Dale (Gena) Switzer, Teri (Doug) Spencer
and Mary Shaw. Also surviving him are 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
There will be a graveside service for William on Monday, November 8, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the Merced District Cemetery, Merced, CA.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made to Hinds Hospice.
