Was taken home by the Lord November 20, 2011. Willie was born in Fresno CA August 21, 1920. She moved to Merced with her mother Elisa Smith and her brother Clifford Smith when she was a child. Willie owned and operated “Willies Diner” a lunch counter located at the front of the Food Center in Merced. Willie was a bookkeeper for over 30 years for Merced Dairy & Ice, Sunshine Farms and Record Rendezvous. Willie liked to teach lapidary “jewelry making” class with her late husband Joe Plant for over 20 years.
Willie is preceded in death by her husband of over 54 years Joe Plant, her daughter Jo Ann Pearson, her daughter in law Roma Plant. She is survived by her companion of over 20 years Elmer Nelson, her brother Clifford Smith, her niece Barbara Schouten, her nephew Jim Smith, her sons Stephen (Betty) Plant, Joseph Jay Plant, son in law Burl Pearson also seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home on Friday, December 2, 2011 at 1:00pm.
