April 7, 1940 – June 24, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Nonno, father, husband, Fiore Cavaliere. He entered into rest in Merritt, BC on June 24, 2025, at the age of 85.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Maria Cavaliere; kids, Rino (Linda), Rita (Russ) Willey and Gian Franco (Liz); grandchildren, Nicolas, Nathan, Alexandra, Gian Marco, Lorenzo and Julianna. He is also survived by his siblings, Federico (Anna), Maria (Antonio), Silvana (Raffaele), Vittorio (Barb), Graziella (Rocco) and Remo (Yolande). He is predeceased by his father, Valerio Cavaliere, mother, Gemma Cavaliere, and siblings, Angela (Antonio), Giuseppe (Albina), Antonio (Assunta), and Elisabetta (Giuseppe).
Fiore was born in Pizzoferato, Italy and came to Canada in 1963 to begin a new life. He married Maria in 1972 in Italy and she joined him in Canada to settle and start a family. Papa’s greatest joy was his family; he woke up every day for his wife, kids and grandchildren, loving them fiercely. He never hesitated to help out friends and those in the community. This included being an active member of the Knights of Columbus. He always made time for his true passions: gardening, making wine and prosciutto and spending time with friends especially if it was over a game of Scopa.
There will be a prayer vigil on Thursday, July 3 at 7pm with the funeral service on Friday, July 4 at 11am both taking place at Sacred Heart Parish in Merritt BC. Immediately following, Fiore will be laid to rest at Pineridge Cemetery. Following the graveside service, Maria and her children would like to extend an invitation to join them at the Sacred Heart Hall for a luncheon.
We would like to thank the staff at NVGH and Dr. Ross for their support and comfort. The care you all showed towards Papa was above and beyond during the entire process. We will be forever grateful to each of you. We also want to extend our thank you to family, friends and the community as a whole, who have been incredibly supportive during this difficult time.
On-line condolences may be expressed at www.MerritttFuneralChapel.com.
In lieu of flowers, kindly consider donations to the BC Lung Foundation.
Papa, you always told others how proud you were of your family. We are so proud of you for the legacy you have left behind.
