August 9th, 1935- March 14th, 2019
Paul was born on the farm in Big Coulee, Alberta, north of the Athabasca River in 1935.
After leaving home at the age of 15, Paul worked his way around Alberta and B.C., finally settling in Fort St.John, where he met and married the love of his life Donna Burgher. Paul worked most of his his years at the sawmill on Swanson Lumber Road; first loading rail cars, then as a lumber grader until his retirement.
Paul passed peacefully in Merritt, B.C., with his loving wife of 57 years and all his children by his side.
He is survived by his wife Donna; children Thomas Deren, Rose Danyluk (Gene), Shelley Close (Thomas), Connie Deren (Jeff Wilson). Grandchildren; Julia Close (Adam Bigham), Micheal Close, Riley Danyluk, Tiffany Deren, Jenelle Deren, Dayna Cavers (Seth), Carolyn Dahl and Emily Dahl. Brothers; Al Deren, Tony Deren (Margaret), Danny Deren (Joanne), Leo Deren (Gail), Frank Deren (Judy), Eddie Deren (Emily) Sister-in-Law; Gayle Deren-Purdy (Ken). Brothers-in-law Bob Burgher, John Burgher (Valerie), Paul Burgher (Mollie), Sister-in-Law Denise Bychyk (Neil). numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his grandson, Tegan Danyluk. Parents, Joe and Lena Deren, Sister Anne Litun, brother-in-law Nick Litun, brother John Deren, sister-in-law Elaine Deren, brothers Peter and Henry Deren. Brother-in-law Clem Burgher, sisters-in-law Maureen Burgher and Patricia Leslie, brother-in-law Bill Leslie. Father-in-law Gordon Burgher and Mother-in-Law Marie Burgher.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Charlie Lake Hall, Charlie Lake,B.C. on July 27th from 12:00 until 4:00 p.m.. A light lunch and refreshments to follow.
