Pat was born on May 13, 1920 in Bradford, Ohio, to Chalmer and Ethel Sipple. He graduated from Bradford High School in 1938, and in 1939 he married his high school sweetheart, Faith. They were married for 70 years until her passing in 2009.
Pat was drafted into the US Army in 1944 and served in the 13th Armored Division in Europe, where he earned a Combat Infantryman Badge and was honorably discharged in 1946. After the war, Pat returned to Ohio and worked for the National Cash Register (NCR) Corporation, where he retired after 30 years. Following his retirement from NCR, he moved to California where he worked for another 15 years as an elementary school custodian, before permanently retiring to Merritt Island, FL.
In his youth, Pat was competitive in horseshoe pitching, and won men's doubles national championships in 1957, 1958, and 1959. In his retirement he enjoyed fishing, taking walks, and watching college sports; he was a lifelong Ohio State fan. Pat valued a good, honest job, and a simple, independent lifestyle.
He is survived by his daughter, granddaughter, great-grandson, and several nieces, nephews (both great and great-great), lots of cousins and many in-laws. Pat (Papaw) was greatly loved and will be dearly missed.
