

She was born in Holmesville-Downsville, Louisiana and lived in Merritt Island, Florida since 1966. Doris was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
She is survived by her devoted husband John Ramsey married of 58 years; sister, Peggy(Dick) Brown; daughter, Kim (Jeff) Hernandez; son, Stephen (Joanna) Ramsey; Grandchildren, Ashley Hernandez (fiancee Matthew Meccia), Kendall, Stephen and Katrina Ramsey; Nephews Jeff, Bart and Chase Brown.
Doris married her high school sweetheart, worked for the Army Corp of Engineers, devoting herself to raising her
children, a cosmetologist in local Department Stores and retired working for the popular Animal Crackers toy store. Doris was very active in the community volunteering for many civic responsibilities including Brevard County Board of Adjustment and service to the Supervisors of Election Voting as well as playing many years of Tennis in her more active days. Doris was one of the key people who started Safe Driving Schools in Brevard County for traffic offenders to become aware of the dangers of unsafe driving. Doris will never be forgotten and lives in the hearts of all that loved her and for all the lives she touched while always putting others needs first.
Calling hours will be from 5pm - 8pm Monday, October 3, 2011, at the Wylie- Baxley funeral home on Merritt Island. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 4, 2011, at 1:30 PM in the Chapel at First Baptist Church of Merritt Island with burial following at Florida Memorial Gardens in Rockledge Florida.
