Gerard Lawrence Mannix passed peacefully on July 21, 2018. He was born in New York on March 6, 1941, just minutes before his twin brother Joseph Mannix. They have 4 siblings John Mannix, Marilynne Cerullo, Elaine Habib, and Francy Pitera.
He was a Marine (E-5 Sergeant), serving in President Kennedy's Honor Guard.
Together, he and his wife Joan Motteler Mannix, are very proud of their 5 children Debby Ewh Stein (Chip), Jerry Mannix Jr. (Celeste), Priscilla Gaffney (John), Patricia Mannix-Shucoski (Michael) and Paul Ewh (Debbie). They have 10 grandchildren and were blessed to have their first great grandchild born on his and Joan's 40th wedding anniversary February 11, 2018.
The majority of his work-life was spent in retail. His most recent job was the one he took after he retired. Working for Delaware North at Kennedy Space Center in Merritt Island, FL was a dream come true. He had so many wonderful experiences and was known to everyone as Mr. Jerry.
In December 2016, he was honored with the title Super-Nova of the Month. This award was accompanied by an impressive envelope of letters, notes and lists of the people who nominated him which are all compiled in a memory book.
He never met a stranger.
He encouraged us to follow our dreams and was able to give the guidance we needed to achieve them.
He didn't understand the concept of "It can't be done."
In lieu of flowers, donations to The Humane Society, The Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, or the Wounded Warriors Project would be appreciated.
