He is survived by his loving wife Cherry, daughter Teresa (husband Steve) and son Andrew (wife Cheryl) and four grandchildren (Sarah, Alexander, Colin, Taylor). He is predeceased by his parents Emery and Pauline, and sister Mary Beth.
James was born in Toledo, OH, and served honorably in the U.S. Army for 20 years, receiving the Bronze Star medal for his tour in Vietnam. After retirement, he moved to Merritt Island in 1978 where he worked and retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 2000.
A Memorial Service will take place at Wylie Baxley Funeral Home Merritt Island at 3:00pm on Saturday February 4, 2017. He will be buried at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery at a later date.
