Joseph (Joe) Francis Brand, born in Birmingham, Alabama to the late John William Brand and Agnes (Wilson) Brand, passed away peacefully at the age of 84, surrounded by those who loved him. He leaves behind a life defined by quiet strength, devotion to family, and unwavering integrity. A man of few words and deep conviction, Joe lived a life rooted in service, responsibility, and honor.
As a child, he loved playing outside and growing up he wanted to be a soldier. Joe proudly served his country as an Army Ranger, completing multiple combat tours in Vietnam. For his courage and sacrifice, he was awarded two Purple Hearts and the Bronze Star, distinctions that reflect his bravery under fire and steadfast commitment to his fellow soldiers. He carried his military service with humility, rarely speaking of his experiences, yet living every day guided by the values they forged, discipline, loyalty, and perseverance.
After his military service he graduated from UCF with a degree in Sociology and was a probation officer for many years in Brevard County, Florida. He was married to Aileen "Lee" (Finigan) Brand for 43 years, and they loved traveling, cruising, camping, fishing, boating and coolers.
He was preceded in death by his father, John William Brand; his mother, Agnes (Wilson) Brand; and his brother, Newell Brand.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Lee Brand; his sons, Mike (Allyson) Brand, Scott (Venus) Brand, Dan Miller, John (Heidi) Brand, and Todd (Cindy) Lamar; his daughters, Angela (Chad) Landry and Tracy (Colin) Jewsbury; his grandchildren Aleeya, Megan, Cheyne, Erynne, Caitlyn, Shannon, Ian, Collin, Sara, Julian, John, Carleigh, Willow, Cora and Jenni; As well as the great-grandchildren Johnny and Mikey; his brother, John (Jack) William Brand Jr.; and his sisters, Mary Anne Long and Pamela Rock. There were many other family members and wonderful friends that were near and dear to his heart.
To his family, Joseph was a steady presence, a quiet source of strength and unapologetically honest, but he was also always humorous and quick witted and liked to push a few buttons. He believed that love was demonstrated through action by providing, protecting, and remaining constant through life’s challenges. His influence will continue through the generations that follow him.
A small service will be held Friday, February 13, 2026, at 2PM at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, 5525 US-1, Mims, Florida 32754. Military honors will be rendered in recognition of his faithful and courageous service to the United States Army. Following the service a Celebration of Life will be held from 4PM to 6PM at the Brevard Veterans Memorial Center, 400 S Sykes Creek Pkwy, Merritt Island, Florida 32952.
