

Laurie taught for Brevard Public Schools for 25 years and was Robert Louis Stevenson’s Teacher of the Year for 2014-2015. She was a member of the ADK Sorority,was an avid reader and enjoyed sewing, aerobics and fitness classes, gardening, and coloring. She was a devout Catholic and attended Church of Our Saviour in Cocoa Beach. Above all, she loved her family, friends, students and her dogs.
Laurie was preceded in death by her parents: David Landis and Donna Landis-Collins. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, David Sargeant; son, Philip Sargeant and his wife, Amanda; step-mother, Marian Landis; brother, Michael Landis; sister, Shelley Rogers; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, and thousands of students.
She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Her legacy will continue through the students’ lives she impacted.
The family will receive friends Friday, July 29, 2016 from 5-9PM at Wylie-Baxley Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will take place at Church of Our Saviour on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at 10AM followed by procession to Florida Memorial Gardens for inurnment.
