Peg was a “take charge person” for her whole lifetime. Voted Senior Yearbook Editor at her high school, president of her Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, member of Mortar Board and member of Phoenix at Ohio University where she received many other honorary positions. While at the University she studied modern dancing and sang in several choral groups, experiences she pursued throughout her lifetime.
She moved to Florida in 1957 and soon was upset by the segregation of that time. In response, she became a volunteer teacher at Monroe High school, joined interracial civic organizations and marched protest parades. She taught high school English, English as a second language to Vietnamese refugees and remedial reading at a youthful offenders prison. Seeing the need for reading lab teachers she earned a Masters Degree in remedial reading from, the then, Florida Technological University.
Peg was for her entire lifetime a woman of faith. For seventeen years she was a voluntary discipler of women prisoners at the Brevard County jail. In later years she was a member of the Florida Common Cause board of directors.
Peg did all of the things above but her main focus was always the nurturing of her husband of 63 years, John Krieg; her children Christina (Carlton) Hibbard, Frederick (Susan) Krieg, Steven (Nancy) Krieg, Karen Hope (Gary) Heredia, Lou Ann (Donny) Linton, her grandchildren Lillian Hope Hibbard, Bonny Hibbard, Jacob Heredia, Michael Heredia, Matthew (Ellen) Heredia, Peter (Amy) Krieg, John Samuel (Chelsea) Krieg, Logan Linton, Hannah Linton; and her great grandchild Lucas Heredia. She is, for the family, irreplaceable.
A celebration of Peg's life will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Faith Presbyterian Church, 1900 S. Tropical Trail, Merritt Island, FL 32952.
