Rev. Emmett F. Hanson, 96, devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, went home to be with Jesus on April 15, 2019. He was born April 23, 1922 in Christopher, IL to Edwin and Louella (Kelly) Hanson. He was married to his loving wife, Natoma, for over 65 years. He was in the ministry for over 60 years, pastoring in six different states and doing missionary work in Mexico and Haiti for many of those years. Rev. Hanson loved to preach the gospel and sing his favorite songs, many that he wrote himself. He loved telling stories of his life was a World War II Veteran having served in the Phillippines.
He is survived by his children, Sharon Rothe of East Alton, IL, Kent (Pam) Hanson of Merritt Island FL, Denise (Mike) McGrew of Merritt Island, FL, Deena (Joe) Hutten of Merritt Island, FL, Lisa (Dave) Brady of Rockledge, FL and Krista (Donnie) Miller of Gainesville, FL; his grandchildren Darin (Tracy), Michael, Debbie, Tama (Jr.), Jason (Mary Beth), Gia (Rich), Ryan (Tara), David, Hayley (Kent), Kevin, Marley, Ashley (Ryan), Sara (Forrest), Kara (Aaron), and 22 great grandchildren.
Rev. Hanson is preceded in death by his wife, Natoma, his parents, a brother, four sisters, granddaughters Tama Renee Teems and Jacqueline Jean Hanson, and grandson, Mark Alan Rothe.
A visitation will be held at The Life Event Center at Florida Memorial Gardens, Rockledge, Florida on Thursday, April 18, 2019 from 6-8 pm. A cerebration of his life will be held on Friday, April 19, 2019 at 3 pm at The Life Event Center. Interment will take place immediately following the service at Florida Memorial Gardens.
