Sherry Lynn DeMunno (Roland), 59, of Merritt Island, Florida, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2025, surrounded by love. She was born on November 24, 1966, in Point Pleasant, New Jersey, and throughout her life she embodied kindness, resilience, and devotion to her family.
Sherry was the beloved wife of Ralph DeMunno, and the proud mother of Teresa DeCrotie and Dominic DeMunno. She is also survived by her mother, Alvina Drapkin, and her sisters, Sandy Pletka and Laura Croft. Sherry’s circle of love extended beyond family to dear friends and colleagues, including Crystal, Terry, Jessica, and Chrissy, who cherished her warmth and companionship.
Professionally, Sherry dedicated herself as a paraprofessional for children with special needs, where her kind heart and caring nature touched countless young lives. Her patience, compassion, and ability to see the unique light in every child left a lasting impact on her classrooms and community.
Outside of work, Sherry found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved cooking, especially making Christmas cookies each year while listening to holiday music. She delighted in 80’s music, movies, and fashion, and she cared deeply for her pets. Sherry created treasured traditions with her children, such as “Mom dates” to show them special care, and always making sure they had Publix subs for their field trips to the Renaissance Faire she chaperoned. She shared adventures with Ralph, riding as his passenger during Bike Week and Biketoberfest in Daytona, FL, and enjoyed evenings of music and dancing together at the Moose Lodge.
Sherry will be remembered for her kind heart, strong will, and caring spirit. She lived by values of family, loyalty, resilience, courage, and hope, and those who knew her will carry forward her legacy of love and strength.
In lieu of flowers, donations are being collected to support her husband, Ralph DeMunno, with funeral and living expenses. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and staff at Health First’s Cape Canaveral Hospital for ensuring Sherry’s passing was painless and peaceful.
Sherry faced a long and difficult illness, one that was often invisible to others and too easily misunderstood. Despite the challenges she carried, she showed strength in trying to protect those around her from the weight of her struggle. Addiction, like any illness, can be devastating, and Sherry bore much of that burden quietly. Though she suffered in silence at times, her courage and resilience were always present, even in the hardest moments.
Her journey is a reminder that addiction is an illness, not a weakness, and that seeking help is an act of courage that can save lives.
Sherry’s memory will live on in the laughter of her children, the love of her husband, and the countless lives she touched with her kindness.
A funeral service will be held on December 18, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at Wylie-Baxley Funeral Home, 1360 N. Courtenay Parkway, Merritt Island, FL 32953.
A Celebration of Life will follow the same day from 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m. at Island Lakes Clubhouse, 4499 Wood Stork Drive, Merritt Island, FL 32953.
