Stephen Roy Conway was born June 23rd, 1950 in Huntington, New York to Vernon and Ruth Conway. Growing up, Stephen enjoyed fishing with his brother Paul and playing baseball. He also loved to fish for crab and lobster.
When he was 18, he was drafted into the United States Army, serving in military intelligence during the Vietnam War and later as a practical nurse, where he helped build MASH units. He was very proud of his line of work in the military and after 27 years, he retired as a Sergeant First Class. During his time in the Army, Stephen enjoyed the traveling it allowed him to do and while stationed in Germany, he developed a love for the culture and country.
After retiring from the Army, Stephen spent his years with his children in Kansas City, Missouri working as a nurse in a nursing home and playing video games with his children.
Stephen’s second retirement from the medical field brought him and Lynn, his life partner, to Merritt Island, where he joined Moose Lodge 2073, taking after his father and becoming an officer of the lodge. While being a member of the lodge, one could often find him greeting new members with a warm smile and volunteering as much as he could. Stephen also enjoyed playing darts and shuffle board with other Moose members, and trivia night.
He donated to Veterans of Foreign Wars, Wounded Warrior Project and various other veteran organizations, as well as the Lakota Sioux.
Stephen enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his family. He is survived by his life partner, Lynn Collins, his siblings Martha and Paul Conway, and his children Diana Conway and Stephanie Hollenbeck and grandchildren Nicholas Beach and Wyatt Hollenbeck.
