After 101 years on earth, Jane has left us for Heaven, joining her parents, all three husbands and her eldest daughter Linda. Jane leaves behind a daughter, two sons-in-law, four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Jane was born at home in southern Illinois. Jane was the youngest of six, her older siblings were grown and gone from home so Jane was always cherished Sunday dinners and other occasions that brought them back for visits. After graduating high school Jane moved to Indianapolis Indiana where oldest sister lived. There she met the man who would become her first husband, Luther Roach. He kept asking how she would feel about ”looking at him over the breakfast table?” She realized it was a proposal and they were married. After Luther returned from serving in the Pacific with the Navy they settled in Muncie, Indiana. Jane stayed at home taking care of their two daughters, Linda and Peggy. Jane became active in a local homemakers group, she also taught sewing classes for the 4H club. Jane would submit entries to the County Fair and won many ribbons for her cakes and clothing exhibits. After both girls were in school full time, Jane decided to go back to work and started as a teller in a local bank. In the late 1950’s Luther became ill and together they decided a change was in order. Luther needed a warmer climate so he went to Phoenix Arizona. Jane stayed behind to sell the house and most of their possessions. With the help of friends, Jane packed a panel van with their worldly goods and with the two girls and drove to Arizona to join Luther. Traveling across country on your own with your children what an adventure!
Jane got a job at a bank in Phoenix, Luther started his own company and they settled in to a new life. In 1970 Luther’s health took a turn for the worst. Jane became a widow in 1971. Jane continued working at Valley National Bank and her youngest daughter was still at home and in college. Jane took it all in stride. In 1973 she was at her desk at the bank when a tall gentleman approached and said “they said I needed to see Jane”. So she acknowledged that was Jane. Harry Rogers and Jane started dating and by the end of the year they were married. They were married over 20 years and traveled around the US from Washington to Florida, and even a trip to Hawaii. Wanting a new adventure they moved to Tennessee for a while but came back to Arizona to be closer to family and friends. They settled in Prescott for several years and then Harry passed away. On her own again Jane moved to Apache Junction closer to her daughters
Jane made many new friends at her new church and community. That included getting married again this time to Leonard Leech. Leonard loved baseball so Jane developed a love for the Diamondbacks and as a family went to a game. Leonard, a man of faith, became ill and they had only a couple of years together before he passed away. After losing him Jane sold up and moved to Mesa into an independent senior apartment. Jane was still very active, volunteering at the local hospital and church.
Jane was always ready to visit with her daughters and their families. Getting together was always fun. Jane eventually moved into assisted living needing more care than she could handle on her own. Her daughters were good to visit and help with doctor’s appointments and those very important nail salon visits. Jane never lost her sense of humor and was thankful for all of those involved with her care. Near the end she moved into a home care situation. She loved her new home and bright bedroom and the staff were kind and gentle with her.
Jane lived a very full and blessed life and she will be missed.
